Turn Yesterday’s Apple Watch Into Today’s: watchOS 6

It’s that time of year again and the latest and greatest Apple gadgets are now in the wild. Among these is the newest Apple Watch, the Series 5, now with the much requested “always-on” display and a number of new apps, watch faces and features.

However, beyond the new display feature (which is a big deal) and a newly added compass, the Series 5 is virtually indistinguishable in looks, capability, and performance from last year’s model. It is a solid update but in my opinion not quite enough to justify an upgrade if you already own a Series 4.

Thankfully, the same operating system (watchOS 6) that comes in the new Series 5 is available as a free install and is compatible with Apple Watch models as early as Series 1. This software update significantly enhances the feature set of previous generations and basically makes those watches like new again.

An Amazing Reading Experience: Whispersync For Voice

If you’re a busy parent and/or professional like me, you embrace every moment of downtime you are fortunate to get. For me lately, my personal quiet time has been occupied with immersing myself in a book or two. With today’s technology, book reading has never been more accessible or convenient.

Not more than a decade ago, most of my precious downtime would be spent getting the content to enjoy – driving to the bookstore, waiting in line, or even waiting for a Book or Book-On-Tape/CD to be restocked. Now I get both Books and Audiobooks instantly delivered to me digitally, they typically cost far less than the paper or CD counterparts, fewer trees die and less plastic enters the world.

Tablets, Smartphones, and Wireless Networking combined have set the foundation for a Book Lovers Paradise – but in between Books and Audiobooks, I’ve observed this to be a Paradise divided… Until recently.
