Protect Your Noggin With Style: The Heritage Helmet by Thousand

How often have you gone for a ride on a bike, scooter, or skateboard and left without putting a helmet on your head? If you’re like me, it’s happened all too often and for reasons like, it’s too unwieldy, too uncomfortable, or too… ugly.

While I know it is profoundly unwise to make any excuse to avoid wearing a helmet when cycling, the silliest reason appears to be most common… bike helmets just don’t look cool.

While researching e-bikes however, I started seeing the coolest looking helmet consistently popping up in YouTube videos, reviews, and e-bike websites – a completely retro looking open face helmet named the “Heritage” by a company called Thousand.

In every image, article, and video I found, this helmet often stood out as the most unique and stylish piece of kit everyone in the photos and videos wore.

The Heritage is available in an assortment of colors – all of which are very eye-catching. When I saw the Speedway Creme, I placed it in the shopping cart and double-clicked ApplePay in record time.

This helmet looks absolutely awesome and comes with great features built inside and out.

It has a German engineered magnetic buckle that can be fastened with one hand.

The vegan leather straps look and feel great and the magnetic buckle is super easy to clasp together with one hand.

The helmet also features a Poplock port that you can feed your U-Lock or chain lock through to secure it along with your bike when you don’t feel like carrying it around – and it’s a feature backed by an Anti-Theft Guarantee. If your helmet gets stolen while locked to your bike, they’ll replace it for free.

Of course as any good helmet should be, it is safety certified (CPSC and ASTM) for cycling, roller skating, and skateboarding. So, if you’re ever in a crash it should do what it’s supposed to. But, if it ever gets damaged doing its job, Thousand will replace it for free.

The only thing missing from the Heritage helmet is MIPS Technology which Thousand features in one of its other models called the ChapterMIPS Helmet. Both model helmets look similar but I find the Heritage to be the much better looking of the two.

Thousand elegantly balances its form and function. The Heritage Bike & Skate Helmet has virtually everything you would expect in a modern cycling and skate helmet showcased with leather straps, clean lines, and vintage design. This in my opinion is the helmet’s greatest feature: it’s a helmet that looks so good that you look forward to wearing it on every ride.

The Heritage by Thousand is $89 and available at explorethousand.com.
