Lose the Junk but not Your Style: The Ridge Wallet

Nowadays with ApplePay, Google Pay, and the digitization of the wallet, some might consider their smartphone to be the most important object in their pocket or bag. However, not all merchants are ready to go all digital and still require payment with physical cards or cash. Thus, the analog wallet remains the king of pocket priority.

But if you’re like me, your wallet holds more than just cards and cash. It’s become a hoarding space packed with superfluous junk. A year ago I decided to go through my wallet and scan all the receipts, business cards, and other unnecessary things and discard them. Then, I bought a compact Every Day Carry (EDC) wallet to carry only what I need: my credit cards, I.D., and Cash.

Traditional EDC wallets are typically a simple leather fold or sleeve with a money clip but I chose a less traditional RFID Card style wallet: two carbon fiber plates held together with an elastic band wrapped around it. It was sleek, minimalist, and did its job, but really felt too basic.

My first EDC wallet by Fidelo, was a bit too simple and felt like a rubber band could have done the same job.

The Ridge Wallet on the other hand, is more thoughtfully designed and constructed. Its RFID-Blocking materials are held together by elastic bands within the frame and held together by outer plates and Torx screws. These added touches give it a premium feel and gadget-like quality that is functional and a pleasure to hold and use.

The Ridge Wallet is a similar concept to my first EDC Wallet but more thoughtfully executed giving it a more premium look and feel.
Extremely compact, the Ridge is cut to the dimensions of a credit card and can securely hold up to a stack of 12 cards.
To access: push the cards up through the groove at the bottom and then pinch to fan and slide cards out and in with ease.

The Ridge Wallet has two types of styles, a Cash Strap or Money Clip, and an assortment of materials to choose from: Aluminum, Titanium or Carbon Fiber.

The Ridge Wallet comes beautifully packaged and includes a T-5 Torx Screwdriver for changing attachments or replacing the elastic. (alternative attachments and replacement elastic sold separately)

According to the reviews I have read, the Cash Strap is the thinnest of the two styles. The Money Clip is rigid and bulges out (with or without cash) while the Cash Strap retains a flatter profile even with money folded and tucked beneath it.

To keep things slim in my front pocket, I chose the Cash Strap Style. This is the anodized Gunmetal Aluminum.
  • Thoughtful Design (Looks and Feels like a Gadget)
  • Expands to Hold 1-12 Cards
  • RFID-blocking Materials
  • T-5 Torx Screwdriver and Replacement Screws Included
  • Available in 6061-T6 Aluminum, Grade 5 Titanium or 3k Carbon Fiber Weave
  • Weighs just 2 oz (depending on material)
  • Ridge Wallet offers a Lifetime Warranty
My regular wallet is actually pretty slim (compared to others I’ve seen) but the difference between it and the Ridge Wallet is quite stark.

If you’re looking to ditch the superfluous stuff in your wallet and slim things down in your pocket, the Ridge Wallet is a sleek, functional, and compact solution that holds just what you need and nothing you don’t.

The Ridge Wallet is $75 and is available at ridgewallet.com.
